HAPPY DECEMBER: NEWS & UPDATES FROM JANE
Our last quarter was action packed for Impact 100 East Bay!
We started with a fabulous Grant Award Celebration at Round Hill Country Club. This was our most inspirational event of the year! We awarded our THREE 2023 Grants:
Impact Grant($100,000) to Biotech Partners to fund the expansion of their current program into Robotics and Engineering.
Changemaker Grant ($50,000) to White Pony Express to fund their Food Rescue Hero’s initiative.
Community Grant ($37,000) to Justice at Last to fund their Pro-Bono Academy training attorneys in the methods to use California’s Vacatur Laws to vacate felony records for trafficked victims.
In addition, our prior Grant Award winners, Aspire Education and Community Resources for Science, detailed the positive impact their projects are making on students and teachers in the East Bay! It is truly amazing what can be done when we work together!
On October 21, CASA of CCC presented Impact 100 EB with the “Light of Hope Award” at their annual Evening of Promise event. Our 2018 Impact Grant funded the CASA project to provide much needed mental health services for young people in foster care via tele-therapy. This very successful program has supported over 100 youth in the East Bay and the program has expanded to CASA organizations all across California & beyond (and also received substantial grants from both the state and US government). Ann Wrixon, CASA CCC Director and Impact 100 East Bay member, is the driving force behind the project and it’s success. Ann’s passion and creativity reinforces our Impact belief that our local non-profits are in the BEST position to develop the
solutions to the problems facing our community today!
We ended the October with our MWRI & Impact 100 EB - Community Health Event on October 24. The session was well attended and we all walked away with a better understanding of the current issues facing women’s health and the direct impact on overall community health. We were very fortunate to have Wendy Steele, founder of Impact 100 Global, Mike Annichan, CEO MWRI and Dr. Yoel Sadosky, Research Director at MWRI provide their perspectives and answer audience questions. A really wonderful learning event for all!
As we get ready to close out 2023, I want to thank all of you who have already renewed your membership and I encourage the rest of you to renew (and bring a friend!). We have such a great track record of IMPACT on our East Bay community – Imagine how much more impact we can have if we could fund two $100,000 grants next year!! Let’s dream together!
Thanks, Jane
